AVMF Medical and Health Related Education Scholarships
The Aspen Valley Medical Foundation offers an extensive scholarship program for AVH employees and other local individuals pursuing health careers. The scholarship program provides assistance with tuition and other appropriate related expenses for undergraduate or graduate degree programs, conferences, workshops, seminars and trainings. A formal application process is detailed in these guidelines.

Types of Scholarships

 
  Nursing Scholarships
Nursing Scholarship are offered for interested locals who are looking to begin or continue their nursing careers. Scholarships may be used at Colorado Mountain College, University of Northern Colorado or the University of Colorado.

 

  Continuing Health Education Scholarships for AVH Employees 
Funds are available for workshops, classes and seminars which enhance the skills and expertise of AVH employees.

 

Dr. Rodney E. Kirk Memorial Scholarship
The Dr. Rodney E. Kirk Memorial Scholarship is offered annually by the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation to a Roaring Fork Valley resident pursuing education in a health-related field.

The scholarship is in memory of Dr. Rodney E. Kirk, a highly-respected orthopaedic surgeon in Aspen for 20 years until his untimely death in a plane crash in 1989. He served as chief of medical staff at Aspen Valley Hospital and a board member of the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation.

Dr. Kirk was an advocate of professional excellence. He eagerly supported educational opportunities true to his belief that learning is never ending.

 

Audrey Owings Memorial Scholarship for EMT
Audrey Owings Memorial Scholarships are offered by the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation to Roaring Fork Valley residents pursuing Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic training.

The scholarship fund was established in memory of Audrey Owings, a longtime Aspen resident and volunteer EMT. Audrey was actively working as an EMT at the time of her death in 1981.
